Robin Roberts (Weky)
Robin Roberts is X̱aayda, Ts'msyen and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, from Prince Rupert, BC, and has lived in the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh and səlilwətaɬ territories since 1999.
When Robin was born, his Ts'msyen grandfather from Gitga'at First Nation in Txalgiuw (Hartley Bay), Charles Robinson, started calling him Weky. “Weky” is how a boy would address his brother in Sm'algyax (the language the Ts'msyen speak). Robin’s family called him Weky growing up and still do.
Robin is a carver, painter, digital artist, and designer who works primarily in the Northern style as well as Coast Salish design. He is also an Indigenous Education Teacher with the Vancouver School Board.
Robin holds a BEd and MEd from the University of British Columbia, and a BFA from Emily Carr University.
